Celebrating Veterans in Dare County
2024 Veterans Writing Workshop
The 12th Annual Outer Banks Veterans Writing Workshop will be held at the UNC Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10.
This year's event will be a hands-on songwriting workshop led by singer-songwriter-producer Jana Pochop, singer/songwriter and recording engineer/producer Tony Rosario, and founder of the Veterans Writing Project Ron Capps. Click here to read the instructors' full bios.
The workshop will cover topics such as song structure, basic chord functions, home producing/recording, getting the most out of your lyrics, putting everything together and getting out in front of an audience, and the life and business of being a singer-songwriter.
There will also be time to write some songs. The instructors will put on a free concert on Saturday evening for workshop participants plus their friends and family.
Beginner and experienced writers are invited to participate in this two-day workshop that is free for veterans, active-duty military and their family members.

Outer Banks Veterans Week runs from November 4-11, 2024.
Outer Banks Veterans Week is an annual event celebrating Veterans and their families through the arts. The purpose of the program is to showcase the Outer Banks as a welcoming destination for Veterans, active-duty military and their families, through special events, concerts, and ceremonies.
