Celebrating Veterans in Dare County 

2023 Veterans Writing Workshop

This year's Veterans Writing Workshop is full, so registration is closed. Please call the Dare Arts Gallery at 252 473 5558 to get on the waitlist.

The 11th Annual Outer Banks Veterans Writing Workshop will be held at the UNC Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19.  

 

Educator, editor and Veteran Dario DiBattista will lead this year’s free workshop, which is titled Crafting Poetry.

 

Dario's work has appeared in the Washingtonian, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Guardian, Connecticut Review, [Pank], Mic.com, and many other publications. Additionally, he's been profiled in the New York Times and has been a commentator on NPR, SiriusXM, and for the BBC. Dario served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 2001 to 2007, later becoming a distinguished graduate of the Johns Hopkins University M.A. Writing Program.

 

Beginner and experienced writers are invited to participate in this two-day workshop that is free for veterans, active-duty military and their family members.

Outer Banks Veterans Week runs from November 8-19, 2023. 

Outer Banks Veterans Week is an annual event celebrating Veterans and their families through the arts. The purpose of the program is to showcase the Outer Banks as a welcoming destination for Veterans, active-duty military and their families, through special events, concerts, and ceremonies.

2023 Veterans Week Directory

Outer Banks Veterans Concert

The Outer Banks Veterans Concert, featuring country music duo War Hippies, will be held at the Outer Banks Brewing Station on Friday, Nov. 10. Doors open at 9pm and the concert will begin at 10pm.

 

War Hippies – the country music duo and lifestyle brand from Scooter Brown and Donnie Reis – arrived on the scene in 2022 with a bang and have already garnered widespread critical acclaim for their genuine songwriting and stellar live performances. 

Tickets are on sale on the button below. They are $15 for general admission/non-military and $10 with Military or Veteran ID. This show is for adults 21+ only.
