Dare County Arts Council and 99.1 The Sound are pleased to present Outer Banks Sounds, a performance series and compilation album of original, local music.
Local musicians and/or bands with original, unlicensed music, were asked to submit a cd quality recording for consideration to be a part of this distinct opportunity. Selected musicians were then asked to play one showcase that was held every third Thursday from 7-9pm, September through April at Kelly’s Restaurant and Tavern in Nags Head. Each musician selected received one track included on the inaugural Outer Banks Sounds CD recording, a chance to perform on the live radio show, Acoustic Lunch, industry exposure, radio play, copies of the CD recording and a small honorarium for the showcase. A cd release party and performance on Thursday, May 17th will wrap up this 8-month program.
This is a great opportunity for established and up-and-coming musicians alike to reach a wider audience and help promote local artists of the Outer Banks!
All proceeds from sales of the Outer Banks Sounds CD will benefit the Community Music School, a DCAC initiative that brings quality, affordable music instruction to local youth. To find out more about the Community Music School, please visit darearts.org/community-outreach.
